Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless gas produced by incomplete combustion of fuels. Exposure to carbon monoxide can interfere with the body’s ability to transport oxygen and may lead to serious health consequences.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is a medical emergency and requires immediate assessment and treatment by emergency services or hospital-based medical teams.
Following acute medical care, some individuals may continue to experience ongoing symptoms and may explore non-medical wellbeing approaches as part of their broader recovery and resilience routines.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing high-concentration oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. Under increased atmospheric pressure, oxygen dissolves more efficiently into the bloodstream and body fluids, increasing overall oxygen availability throughout the body.
At OxyHealthCare®, HBOT is provided solely as a non-medical wellbeing service and is not offered as emergency treatment, acute care, or clinical management for carbon monoxide poisoning.
There is ongoing scientific interest in how oxygen availability and pressurised environments interact with biological processes following hypoxic or oxygen-deprivation events.
Some individuals choose to explore HBOT after completing emergency and hospital-based medical treatment, because:
Important:
HBOT at OxyHealthCare® does not diagnose, treat, or manage carbon monoxide poisoning and must never be used as a substitute for emergency services, hospital treatment, or medical advice. Individual experiences vary.
Independent Research – Informational Context Only
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been examined in a range of independent academic and clinical studies relating to carbon monoxide exposure and hypoxic injury.
The studies listed below are third-party publications and are provided for general informational purposes only. OxyHealthCare® did not conduct, sponsor, or control these studies, and their inclusion does not imply clinical endorsement or application within our wellbeing services.
Clinical Research on HBOT and Carbon Monoxide Exposure – PubMed Central (PMC)
Independent clinical research examining HBOT in hospital-based treatment settings.
Long-Term Outcomes Following Carbon Monoxide Exposure
Academic research exploring neurological outcomes following CO exposure in controlled medical environments.
While these studies explore HBOT in emergency or hospital-based clinical settings, they do not establish HBOT as a non-medical wellbeing treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning. Findings from these studies cannot be directly applied to non-clinical wellbeing services.
For individuals who have already completed medical treatment and have been cleared by a healthcare professional:
Clients remain fully clothed and may relax, listen to music, or rest during the session.
HBOT is not suitable for everyone.
HBOT is contraindicated for:
Caution may be required for individuals with certain respiratory, ear, or sinus conditions.
Anyone with a history of carbon monoxide poisoning must consult a GP, emergency physician, or specialist before booking.
OxyHealthCare® does not provide emergency treatment, medical clearance, diagnosis, or clinical recommendations.
Many clients choose to explore HBOT as part of their wider personal wellbeing routines.
OxyHealthCare® provides non-medical hyperbaric oxygen wellbeing sessions.
These sessions are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, disorder, or injury and do not constitute medical care or therapy.
