Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBOT) and Burn Recovery

Understanding Burn Injuries

Burn injuries vary widely in severity and can affect the skin, underlying tissues, and overall physical comfort. Recovery from burns is often complex and may involve medical treatment, wound care, rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Alongside conventional medical care, some individuals also explore non-medical wellbeing approaches to support comfort, resilience, and overall wellbeing during recovery periods.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing high-concentration oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. Under increased atmospheric pressure, oxygen dissolves more efficiently into the bloodstream and body fluids, increasing overall oxygen availability throughout the body.

At OxyHealthCare®, HBOT is provided solely as a non-medical wellbeing service and is not offered as a clinical, therapeutic, or medical treatment.

Why Some People Explore HBOT in the Context of Burn Recovery

Oxygen plays an essential role in normal cellular function and tissue maintenance. This has led to scientific interest in oxygen availability and pressurised environments, including in the context of tissue injury.

Some individuals choose to explore HBOT alongside their existing medical care because:

  • Pressurised oxygen increases systemic oxygen availability
  • Sessions are passive and non-invasive
  • HBOT can be incorporated without physical exertion
  • Sessions are calm and structured during periods of recovery

Important:
HBOT at OxyHealthCare® does not diagnose, treat, or manage burn injuries and does not replace medical care, wound management, or surgical treatment. Individual experiences vary.

What Does the Research Say?

Independent Research – Informational Context Only

There is ongoing scientific interest in how oxygen availability and pressurised environments interact with tissue environments and biological processes. As part of this broader research landscape, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been examined in a range of independent academic studies, including research relating to burn injuries and wound environments.

The studies listed below are third-party publications and are provided for general informational purposes only. OxyHealthCare® did not conduct, sponsor, or control these studies, and their inclusion does not imply clinical endorsement or application within our wellbeing services.

Important Clarification

While these studies explore HBOT in academic or clinical research environments, they do not establish HBOT as a medical treatment for burns, and findings from research studies cannot be directly applied to non-medical wellbeing services.
