Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBOT) and Asthma

Understanding Asthma

Asthma is a long-term respiratory condition that affects the airways and may cause symptoms such as breathlessness, chest tightness, wheezing, and coughing. Symptoms can vary in severity and are often influenced by environmental triggers, allergens, infections, or physical exertion.

Asthma is managed medically through prescribed treatment plans and ongoing clinical care. Alongside this, some individuals explore wellbeing-focused approaches to support comfort, resilience, and personal respiratory health routines.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing high-concentration oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. Under increased atmospheric pressure, oxygen dissolves more readily into the bloodstream and body fluids, increasing overall systemic oxygen availability.

At OxyHealthCare®, HBOT sessions are provided as non-medical wellbeing sessions. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace medical management of asthma.

Why Some People Explore HBOT in the Context of Asthma

Scientific research continues to explore how oxygen availability interacts with inflammation, circulation, and respiratory environments. Some individuals choose to explore HBOT alongside their standard medical care because:

  • Oxygen plays a role in normal cellular metabolism
  • Respiratory conditions may influence oxygen delivery efficiency
  • Research is examining how oxygen exposure may interact with inflammatory pathways
  • HBOT is sometimes included in broader personal wellbeing routines

Important:
HBOT at OxyHealthCare® is not a medical treatment and must not replace prescribed asthma medication, inhalers, or clinical care.

What a Wellbeing Session at OxyHealthCare® Involves

During a session, clients relax in a comfortable hyperbaric chamber while breathing high-concentration oxygen in a calm, supervised environment.

  • Chamber pressures typically range from 1.5 to 2.0 ATA
  • Sessions are monitored for comfort and safety
  • Clients remain fully clothed

Sessions are designed for general wellbeing and personal recovery goals

Safety & Suitability

HBOT is considered safe for many people, but it is not suitable for everyone.

HBOT is contraindicated for:
